Magisteria Gift Log

OOC Notes: This post can be used by PCs to keep track of their inventory for Magisteria. This includes both the gifts that each character received on arrival, as well as other rewards, prizes, or bling collected throughout one's time in the game. For the arrival gifts, those will develop as characters continue their journeys in Magisteria. Please reply below with the following information:Your character's current gift:
What was your character's activity in Magisteria [since the last gift upgrade*]?
[Quests, event participation, completing Synthesis challenges, player plot stuff, etc. -- the more the better as far as gift upgrades.]
What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like?* **
[ * because a gift growing can sometimes take the form of complementary offerings or something(s) to go with the OG gift.
** you can also say "Surprise me!" -- and, for that matter, it should be noted that PCs may get something that is mod's particular flair or spin on whatever upgrades they ask for. mod reserves the right to potentially put spins on requests, but will try to ensure that the results are satisfactory for everyone]

๐ฃ Lucy and Musashi infiltrated an adult lounge and are going to angling to get security jobs there so they can listen in on conversations between VIPs. Lucy also made use of her invitation and invited V up to see the lounge
๐ฃ She did two of the open quests, one to investigate what was going on with muffins, and the other to pick flowers and ward off shadow creatures
๐ฃ Lucy also met another Night City resident on the TDM

Lucy has a solid bit of varied activity! Quests, a dedicated player plot, and a solid presence throughout the game. OOCly, as a player, you seem to find your way around easily, Cosmo, but let me know if you have any questions so far as to the game goings-on, lore, or anything else. In taking a big initiative, you guys are helping me build the game world, and if you're reading this, I'm not just saying that to Cosmo, but to everyone.
Lucy's direct gift upgrade will be that she will get a full body nanosuit. Not just a jacket, but something like this. [Tried to find non-AI art here, but honestly, I'm not always sure anymore; cyberpunk Pinterest is rife with it, but this visual gives you the idea.]
The nanosuit will have threads of Bios which weave through it with colors, like electricity. Lucy's nanosuit allows her to use Bios cyberware threads from her fingers via visible/invisible gloves and she has stylish cybernetic footwear with extensible Bios-blades which she can use in a hot minute should someone or something attack her -- just twist and kick, that is to say! She can make all this apparate or disappear with a thought, basically like hammerspace. Lucy can certainly continue to grow her abilities here.
Oh wait...
Lucy also receives a few inventory surprises! For ๐ TDM participation, Lucy receives a Verve cigarette (vape) and neon Bios-coated Verve lipstick.
"Loosen up and go mingle more in Eden 6..." the note says.
Finally, while these aren't exactly gifts, Lucy receives both a ๐ scroll and a โ๏ธ letter.
๐ scroll:
from the Librarian --
"It has come to my attention that you have been researching a certain phrase or phrases. Something about where the angels go... well, you've awakened my curiosity, you know.
You see, in one sense, I, the Librarian, am omniscient, but in another sense, I know nothing, because I can produce material only in relation to specific Otherworlder questions. I do not possess natural curiosity as humans do, but when Otherworlders research topics within Magisteria, sometimes my attention is alerted and I begin researching them as well.
In researching angels, they do have various appearances. Some of the teenage girls in this city have an esper-like appearance... looks somewhat angelic, don't you think? At least based on the images I am seeing. Well, I will keep researching. I feel certain that the answer here is varied but...
oh yes... what was that other topic you were researching? a woman who could change the city? This phrase is too vague to yield much. Perhaps if you could remember another name or phrase you might pass along, I might assist in your research."
โ๏ธ letter:
the envelope is unmarked, yet gilded, and it opens with a flourish is probably magic but has that feel of a tech sliding door too -- it feels just like a holograph, actually.
"Greetings, Lucy. Should I call you 'Lady of Ladies'?
Were you wondering how you received access to the sky lounge so easily? Well... you could say I don't mind potential employees in myriad fields. You see, Evergreen Terrace belongs to me, and while I've frequently been out of late, I do overhear a lot, and you all have met some of my workers and the people at my complex. You seem to be showing an interest in some topics I am well-versed in.
I would like to exchange names, but I would like to greet all Otherworlders at the same time and place. That is my sense of decorum. I will however permit you to write back and ask a question about goings-on in Magisteria, particularly with regards to myself, High Rise Village, the apartments, etc."
--Proprietor of Evergreen Terrace
[Note: if first question is something that can't be answered, we can re-do, but methinks it'll be fine!]
no subject
In the end, it's a question that Emerick posed to her that she winds up asking. She hadn't known the answer, and it would be useful to know. She writes (digging deep for formality she never uses):
To the Proprietor of Evergreen Terrace,
Thank you for your letter. It's a surprise to me that I'm on your radar, but I'm grateful for the invitation to the sky lounge.
There's a lot that I'm curious about with this city, but I think the most immediate question I have is this: are there any areas of the city that are renowned for being dangerous, or having gang activity? In exploring the city I've mostly stuck to High Rise Village and the Entertainment District so far.
-- Lucy
no subject
To begin with... one might say that I regard High Rise Village as though it were my backyard, as it were. There are some who deem me a benefactor for this, others who criticize me for the same. But, having seen my handiwork in Evergreen Terrace, you will have some idea of the quality I maintain in this sector which I regard as the realm of my influence.
Unblemished perfection. That is my aspiration, my ideal. Think of it as you will, but I take care that all in my employment and periphery are trained to understand, aspire, and maintain this ideal. Certainly crime of the sort you speak of has no place in a society in which all citizens are guaranteed a basic income, in which all citizens have a chance to meet their aspirations. Look at those whom you have met: Atlas, Ava, Malik, Rosalind, the women of the Entertainment District. Are they not successful? Contented? Their needs are met and shall always be met. They know not poverty nor want.
Yet I shall not mislead you. Even in our society of abundance and plenty, there are those who find something that they seek to oppose. In the darker corners of the Entertainment District, and sometimes edging even into this, my own, in the back alleys -- though not, I should say, as soon as anyone with whom I am affiliated becomes aware of it -- there are certainly such stirrings. You may of course ask how, if my reach is such as I claim, any gangs could evade my gaze and sully my realm.
That brings me to what is ultimately my answer to your question (or rather, what I think is the most interesting and salient answer: there are pockets of "disturbance" all throughout Magisteria, ranging from the back alley in the Agrarian Enclave populated by the feral fowl, to the shadier black markets within the Market, to the seedier and more underground portions of the Harbor District) -- there is, in particular, one other place, one which poses something of a difficulty and intersects with all the others. I was not supposed to speak of it to you so soon, but since you asked directly, I would be remiss not to mention the eleventh district of Magisteria, the Undercity. It is there where the supernatural beings of Magisteria reside, there where our city's laws hold no sway, and where these criminal organizations' members can escape and form new connections.
But neither I nor any other authority shall tell you how to enter such a place. Nor could we help you access it even if we desired to do so. Its dimensions, its rules, are inherently different from the above world, and its manifestation will be of its own accord. Explore as you like, but take caution, Lucy. There are things in this world of ours that are not easily digestible to the mind of a mortal.
Regards,
A.V. (my initials)

What was your character's activity in Magisteria in May?
- Mostly him reconnecting with Azem and Rhea'li
- He participated in Sparkle's fairground game and may have pissed her off a little
- He also tried to reach out to a few other Outworlders
- Filled out that job survey etc. to see if he could get some kind of job related to the sea of souls.
What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like?
A pen to go with his journal--
(Honestly just surprise me.)
๐ I had actually been thinking about a pen before I saw the request haha
Emet-Selch also has a good bit of activity! One always appreciates his desire to ask questions and investigate.
Emet-Selch will indeed receive a pen for his journal, but not just any pen! This is an elegant fountain pen inscribed with runic symbols which writes with gleaming, Bios-infused ink. The pen can write in multiple colors and it can even produce text which changes color, either automatically or by moving the writing material beneath the light. But that's not all! The pen can also transform into a gleaming sword. The blade form is named Aelia Lucent, and it can channel elements and be used to harmonize Emet's native powers (the five elements of FFXIV lore or what not) with the Magisterian magic, basically giving him the potential to meld, explore, and generate new kinds of magic. When the sword is powered with water or ice, it can turn blue, when powered by fire, it turns red, and Emet can experiment with integrating the blade with various other forms of magic, too.
[Also, the old question of "which is mightier..." because the pen form's magical power can also potentially grow, though for now, it's just a writing instrument with beautiful and enchanted ink!]
For participation in the TDM and general activity, Emet-Selch receives an additional gift, or series of gifts:
Three orbs which look suspiciously like materia. One features a Sea Bear, one a janky jelly, and one a Woofaloomp, with a note which says, "Friend of the Wildlife..." The Sea Bear and janky jelly "materia" even has the artistic rendering of the animals in enchanted water that ripples with shadows. The baubles can light up and emit sounds, such as the Woofaloomps' chittering or the Sea Bears making low growling sounds. Finally, each is on a base with a small button at bottom which, when pressed, can create magical captions for the animalspeak, though Emet might want to turn them off unless he wants to see things like << !! FISSHH!!! >> on the regular.
The "materia"-esque orbs, for now, are more or less decorative or just spiritual insignia of the beasts, but there is a magical resonance which suggests they too could come to grow in power and continue to evolve!

Your character's current gift: Personalized digital compass, designed to guide him through the intricate weave of tech and magic that defines Magisteria.
What was your character's activity in Magisteria in May?
ยป V played ball and shot Sparkle in the throat because surely someone wouldn't ask for it if it wasn't safe, right? ;)
ยป Ran into Lucy while out picking flowers for what he assumes is easy scratch
ยป Bothered Georgia on the TDM
What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like? I know what V'd like but it's more fun if it's a surprise :p
๐
For Vincent (V), the compass will evolve such that it grows levitation and transformation properties, which can be used together: the compass can become a series of knives, a gun, or it can transform into various tools. On the weapons side, it can shoot small projectiles (hence combining with levitation) like blades or ninja star type weapons -- all with the gleam of the tech Bios infusion. But it can also transform into other tools, such as a magnifying glass or whatever other handy thing V might need. Feel free to give it a cool customizable cyberpunk appearance and a cool name and personalize however!
๐ V's additional extra/special gift!
Vincent will receive a supply of Magisteria Munchies, a specialty pet food treat created by the city for our rulers, cats, which, just like on Earth, have Supreme Authority with all people. The Munchies come in varying intensities, but they're basically to cats what Verve is to humans, with a small dash of hexberry. Vincent will just want to make sure that he uses them responsibly, as cats have been known to fly through the air chasing Bursterflies in the throes of kitty ecstasy on this stuff. The harder munchies are like catnip x 10, and feel free to give them whatever sorts of enchantments or effects in addition to the kitty euphoria and bliss! ๐

>> Libra put up a network post asking the Outworlders about their homes so he could learn more about where people were originally from. While partially information gathering, he also hoped people would open up a bit about their homes... plus it will be information he keeps in mind while working with people in the future.
>> There were also fountain shenanigans with Elidibus in the TDM.
(Please note, as I'm a slow tagger these are still in progress.)

The small plant will grow in size, reaching maturity. It also develops Nightglow properties, and, in addition to the original plant, a small garden blooms, filled with similar plants (and possibly others). Finally, these enchanted plants develop healing properties. Libra can use the flowers and leaves for materials in alchemical potions that can be dispensed to offer some restoration and healing benefits. Feel free to create characteristics for the plants, such as flower shapes, colors, leaf varieties, glow colors, etc.
๐ Additional gift for TDM participation:
Libra also receives a bottle of the finest enchanted shampoo in Magisteria. Its name is Enchanted Elvenwood. The shampoo contains a healing essence derived from rare Magisterian plants. When used, it not only cleanses but also heals minor wounds and soothes sore muscles, providing Libra with physical relief after a long day of battle.
Infused with divine magic, the shampoo enhances Libraโs natural aura of holiness. After use, his hair glows softly with a divine light, making him look more radiant and inspiring to allies, while intimidating to enemies.

Rhea'li's pendant will develop the ability to transform into a shield. The shield, called the Cyber Aegis, is circular and looks futuristic and cybernetic, befitting Rhea'li's journey on the tech path. [Possible reference: it could look something like this, or like some of the other arts on there. Feel free to create an appearance for the shield.] The shield is powered by the sleek, industrial Bios which powers the tech weapons of Magisteria, making it especially durable, and because of its nature as a cybernetic weapon, it might be possible to link it to other interfaces or find creative ways of tying it to other tech.
It also would make an excellent magi-tech combination with Emet's sword, the Aelia Lucent.
๐ Additional gift for TDM/general participation:
โ๏ธ letter:
Rhea'li receives a letter addressed from Malik Patel, the concierge of Evergreen Terrace. It reads thusly:
"Hey, man. Uh... you know, we're kind of feeling a little bad about how much the ... fish have been foisted off on you. Great job taking that up and everything, but you know we actually have good seafood cuisine here in Magisteria, right?
Anyway, Ava, Atlas, and I want to invite you to a restaurant together for some fine dining. We in the CTA actually usually don't eat meat, so the seafood cuisine is simulated from inorganic material, but the algorithm makes it taste every bit as good as "real" seafood, and it's far better both visually and in taste than those carp. You can invite your two friends -- the quirky one who likes all the animals, and the grumpy one all the animals like. We're sure it'll be fun to hang out."
[ ooc note: this is the kind of gourmet seafood i'm imagining them having at the restaurant, lol. except it's synthetic. but this, basically. ]

The AI assistant integrated into the orrery can provide explanations, answer questions about the stars and celestial phenomena, and offer guided tours of different regions of space. The AI can also help Dr. Ratio chart new stars and create custom star maps.
๐ For TDM participation:
Ratio receives a โ๏ธ letter from the Librarian encouraging him to pick up one of the part-time roles there. The letter notes that there are many theses of various topics in the Library at Magisteria which would still benefit from the examination of an outsider, should Ratio desire to do a deep dive.

What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like?
Probably some kind of enchantments to either lantern of medallion. He doesn't need anything grandiose or fancy. If anything, something simple is best so he can incorporate it into his fighting style.

What was your character's activity in Magisteria for May-November? <-- I changed that to the time period since Lucy had her gift upgrade! Not an exhaustive list, but hitting the major plot points:
๐ฃ She worked with Sakura to collaborate on a message to Seraphine
๐ฃ Fought the Fractured, defeated various ones with Gilgamesh, Musashi, and Bishop. During this she managed to yoink fragments of code from some of them to be able to study what had made them corrupted, and eventually found out that their Bios had corrupted
๐ฃ In Elysium Grove, helped Erichthonius with watering the place with Twilit water
๐ฃ Worked with Rhea'li, Musashi, and Gilgamesh to quell disruptive technology by shutting down disruptive nodes and fighting off various tech fauna. Lucy mostly stuck to the tech side while her companions did the fighting
๐ฃ For the October questboards, she helped yoink an experimental AI out from under the Phantom Cipher's nose, got a new short-range flight augment and did an obstacle course with Musashi, and discovered Vplane with Gilgamesh
What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like?* I'm down for anything! My one request is that I'd like to keep the base bodysuit aspect, because it's very thematic for Lucy <3
Gift Evolution: The Prismatic Synapse + Event Role
After this event, the Echo's power will be exhausted, but Lucy's ability with tech will grow exponentionally from having used it, leaving her with enhanced abilities.
Lucy will be assigned the role of directly challenging Phantom Cipher in the digital world. This will involve traveling to the source of the hack, the Central Control System, in High Rise Village, and accessing Vplane. Only, the hack will have corrupted this pocket of Vplane. When Lucy enters the digital realm, she will find herself standing in a vast, shimmering network landscape that morphs around her, fluctuating between glowing grids, cascading data streams, and towering algorithmic architectures.
The environment is Phantom Cipher's domain, which it reshapes at his will to reflect its power over Magisterian technology. Phantom Cipher will manifest as a spectral, amorphous figure made of shifting code, with various skull figures appearing on phantom screens all around, and cackling laughter, as well as various eerie musical numbers which will play in Lucy's mind throughout the encounter. She will also encounter encoded visions of her most intense fears/experiences. To overcome Phantom Cipher, she will have to battle "firewalls" of data spikes that threaten to disrupt her being, summoned whirlpools of corrupted data ("virus vortexes"), and finally, a full-system hack which will cause the virtual world to fragment and collapse into chaotic, shifting blocks of data.
----
Finally, her bodysuit will upgrade so that, for fifteen minutes, she can activate a state called The Prismatic Synapse. The Prismatic Synapse will allow Lucy to transform into a purely digital form. When activated, her form can disperse into a shimmering network of nanoscale particles, enabling her to move through Magisterian tech systems, bypass firewalls, and access data banks beyond the capabilities of traditional netrunners. This allows her to blend into digital pathways or transport herself through connected technology, effectively โdigitizingโ herself to slip past obstacles, evade enemies, or navigate tech systems undetected for a limited period.
Lucy can temporarily dissolve into a digital cloud of nano-particles, allowing her to phase through tech-based barriers and slip into tech systems. When dispersed, her consciousness can navigate and manipulate Magisteriaโs networks and digital landscapes at a near-instantaneous pace. This form also grants her limited stealth, rendering her undetectable to many scanning systems. The suit's integrated nanobots can repair minor suit damage in real-time and even self-generate temporary enhancements, such as creating a hardened surface layer for increased defense or condensing into a retractable short blade. The nanobots can also adapt to emit an EMP burst, disrupting surrounding tech fauna or hostile digital entities if sheโs cornered.
By synthesizing the fragments of code Lucy collected from the Fractured, the suit can briefly simulate corrupted Bios signals, allowing her to โscrambleโ herself digitally to avoid detection by Phantom Cipher or other high-level netrunners. This mimicry bypasses traditional data defenses, permitting her to plant false data or disguise her digital presence entirely while inside a network. The Prismatic Synapse can scan and absorb coded data from fractured or corrupted entities, storing it within the suitโs core, known as The Archive. Through this, Lucy can continue her study of corrupted Bios, slowly unlocking hidden Magisterian secrets.
Lucy is encouraged to use the suit and the Echo together to create a Miracle, and to use the nanobots to restore the damage to the city occasioned by the hack, as well. The Prismatic Synapse will be an ability she will continue to be able to use in events or special occasions, giving her nano powers and a digital form at moments of great need, but for a limited time.
THE ONE CATCH is that such a level of augmentation, should Lucy accept this mission and these abilities, will now be sure to be of great Interest to whoever it is that Phantom Cipher answers to, meaning there will be no going back on being a Person of Interest to those who seek to dominate all of the technology of Magisteria. She will, in essense, be irrevocably Marked.
Gilgamesh | Fate ๐| Local Mod Finally Upgrades Gifts
What was your character's activity in Magisteria since the last gift upgrade? This will be my first time upgrading Gilgamesh's gift! Here is an overview of his activity since the beginning:
+ Gilgamesh was abundantly present on the first TDM. He had many threads there!
+ He was fairly active on the first text mingle meme and had a few threads.
+ On the first event, Gilgamesh completed the tech challenges with Lucy, Rhea'li, Navia, and Ereshkigal, as well as Murderbot (kind of, thread didn't get started a lot).
+ Gilgamesh participated in quests with Lucy here. They did the hexberry quest, as well as the Shadow Creatures/Agrarian Enclave quest.
+ Gilgamesh helped round up Woofaloomps with Emet and William here.
OKAY THIS IS GETTING LONG LMAO. So I'm just going to summarize the rest, since I know my own activity (lbr, local mod waits forever to fill this thing out): Gilgamesh engaged in a gamer sub-plot with Rhea'li and, to some extent, Crowley. He tried to fleece Soraya on Woofaloomps. He participated in the Fractured quest, cooperating with V and Lucy. He had onsen threads with Lucy and Musashi. For the second event, he had fight threads with Musashi and Lucy. He was also present on the Spirit Grove TDM, threading with Emet and William. He had a network post wherein he interacted with various people. He participated in Vash's network two truths and a lie question, too. Most recently, he's been engaging in quest threads with Lucy. These are still in progress.
What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like? Unfortunately, I cannot surprise myself. Or can I?
General Inventory Goes Here

Libra arrived with:
Inviolable Axe
Mend Staff (Normally this staff has a limited amount of 'charges', but I'm playing a bit fast and loose because Bios is a thing.)
Libra gained:
Robin the plant: A small, enchanted plant that thrives in the presence of positive energy. This plant requires no soil or water, living off the ambient magic in the air, and it blooms in response to acts of kindness and compassion. For Libra, who embodies these qualities, the plant serves as a reminder of the impact of his deeds and the importance of nurturing and caring for others, even in a new world.
Which has grown to include: The small plant will grow in size, reaching maturity. (I'll come back for characteristics when I think on it)
Enchanted Elvenwood Shampoo: The shampoo contains a healing essence derived from rare Magisterian plants.
[To Be Continued]

Alongside the zen garden is a set of three small, exquisitely forged mini-swords, replicas of her own, each imbued with a minor magical essence. These swords can be placed within the garden, and when positioned with intention, they are said to offer guidance, clarity, and focus, enhancing Musashi's meditation and mental preparation for battle. The magic within them harmonizes with the zen garden, creating a sanctuary of peace or a storm of energy, mirroring the dual nature of her Berserker class.
Magisteria May Activity
-Investigated a pleasure house with Lucy to try and dig up some information and see about getting security jobs there.
That's it, I MAARed hard during the last few weeks, but I'm getting back into the swing of it now.
Modifications: Surprise me!
๐
The garden develops the ability to tell stories from Musashiโs homeland or from Magisteriaโs own rich history. The trees, rocks, and water can animate to depict legendary tales, offering wisdom and inspiration. The mini-swords can be used to interact with these stories, unlocking deeper meanings and lessons.
[ ooc: it's so good to see Musashi back in action! i notice you're getting up to a good bit of activity for this and the upcoming month, so keep it up, bc the sky is the limit on what could happen with Musashi's gift, which is already really cool. expect a big upgrade next time, especially if you keep going with these current plots, which are all v. involved/detailed. ]

What was your character's activity in Magisteria [since the last gift upgrade*]?
* Fighting the Fractured with Lucy and Emet-Selch
* Fighting Cyberfauna with Lucy and "Boss"
Agreeing to help Sakura with a project involving memories.
* Helping Lucy test some new cyberware by racing her in an obstacle course
What kind of modifications would you like to see and/or what complementary gift would you like?
Swords. And maybe something to thematically tie the gift to a certain Edgerunner who got a lot of mentions in this post...
๐
The Kintsugi/Data Blade also contains a unique trait: the Memory Sync Module. The sword contains a memory shared linked to Lucy's Bios, or neural data, encapsulated as a crystal disc embedded in the hilt. This allows Musashi to access memories, experience flashbacks or insights from Lucy's perspective, perhaps to understand her struggles or tactics.
While those on the magic path cannot learn Magisteria's technology due to the attitudes of those who would teach you, this blade gives Musashi a unique opportunity to blend paths through a circumvent: she's not technically learning tech herself; she is, rather, drawing on Lucy's core and Bios to wield a cyber-sword via Lucy's skills at tech combined with her own swordplay, fusing Musashi's samurai prowess with tech-based agility. The sword will also allow Musashi to enter digital landscapes, such as Vplane, normally off limits to those on the magic path. The sword enables Musashi to fight "digitally" as if dueling in a matrix-like space. It is empowered by Synthesis, albeit of a passive sort: rather than being an active act between Musashi and Lucy, this is a spiritual connection which has manifested and formed between the two from their interactions in this world. However, the active act of Synthesis can enhance Musashi's abilities or also grant more power/Bios to Lucy, as well.
Musashi will be warned: the connection may cause cognitive overload if used excessively, and emotional echoes from Lucy's memories could distract or overwhelm Musashi.
Musashi will also receive a note welcoming her to the ranks of Magisteria's cyber-samurai: she is welcome to come train in the dojo and pursue this lifestyle formally. There are plenty of opportunities associated with such a role.
