Don't get me wrong, Night City had recreation. A ton of it. But it was all geared toward high-octane thrills. Pushing your adrenaline and endorphins higher and higher. Pushing your brain out of your body so you wouldn't feel tired anymore.

[ She wishes Gilgamesh was scrawny. Then he wouldn't be reminding her of-- well, a lot of men in her life. David, and Maine. Muscles are easy to come by in a world where surgery can give you anything, but they'd actually worked for theirs the old-fashioned way. The sight is making her feel... introspective.

Maybe that's just the verve talking. Maybe the trauma is bypassing her because she's feeling too mellow. That's a side-effect she's not going to complain about.

We had these things called BDs. BrainDances. They were virtual scenarios you could upload to your cyberdeck, so it'd be like you were actually experiencing them. Sight, smell, touch, everything. Most of the really popular ones were about sex or violence. One of the biggest producers-- he liked to rip the last memories from dead people that had died in really gory ways, and release those experiences as BDs.
