Agrarian Enclave: The Oca Street Bathhouse

This mingle is OTA and can be used like a mini-TDM or meme!

This is another mingle set in Magisteria's Agrarian Enclave, or the Agriculture District. For maximum thirst, it can be combined with the first Enclave mingle, specifically the ambrosial honey. Visitors are welcome to play it as their characters exploring both, either individually or together!

Known throughout the district as a haven for relaxation and wellness, the Oca Street Bathhouse features luxurious hot springs, invigorating steam rooms, and therapeutic pools infused with herbal extracts, all housed in/among rooms with soft, ambient lighting. Visitors may select from among a wide number of "Aqua Aromatics" to produce different sensory experiences.

The Oca Street Bathhouse also offers an impressive number of massage options derived from Otherworlders' ancestral cultures. Whatever your desire, every aspect of the bathhouse is fully customizable for all patrons, lending to a wholesale self-care experience.

[Below are some ideas to get everyone started, though players are of course free to make up their own massage options, bathing rituals, and aromatics! A world like Magisteria would of course have options beyond those from Earth history, but I kept it simple here. Again, feel free to add more!]

Pleasures of all sorts may become quite real within the sensuous sensory-rich environs. Citizens of diverse backgrounds visit this place. Waterfolk of various kin, but also mundane normie humans, elves, faeries, and even some on the tech-forward side.

PCs are free to handwave interactions with amorous locals or with workers at the establishment, who are trained in full-service massage+pleasure work. Random one-off NPCs can be made for this purpose in the location, so go wild! ♥

Plot Key

At some point, Otherworlders might encounter a worker who looks a little uncertain. She’s conversing with elf guy (likely also a worker there).

Otherworlders may overhear the worker say that lately certain of their clientele had been behaving a bit strangely. Unfamiliar women arriving and … there was talk of induction into some group. Otherworlders will overhear her saying she did manage to collect digital business cards for certain individuals/the organization.

If Otherworlders listen closely, they’ll hear concern: these people were kind of giving off… culty vibes.

PCs are free to approach and ask about those business cards... Simply reply to "Plot Key" below.

[Note: This plot clue relates to an ongoing game plot in the works. It may be a little confusing to new players, but any are free to ask into the clue/pursue details.]

Azem opts for a private bath for the two of them. Something with a soothing scent to help them both relax while they talk. At least, they hope it'll help Hades relax, they know how tightly wound he can be.

Azem relaxes against the side of the tub, eyes closed as they lean their head back. Though when their friend speaks they lift their head to look at him. They remain quiet for a moment.

"It is a tough question to answer. Back home many consider our creations nothing more than that due to their lack of a soul, but do they not bleed when injured?" It's something Azem has thought about a lot as their job has seen them kill many a creature to cull their potentially dangerous population or to see to someone's safety.

"I feel we've had that debate before." And given their equal hardheadedness they've likely left the debate frustrated with one another. "May I ask why you feel you no longer have the right to decide?"

"A-aye..." With a sheepish smile, Erichthonios ducks his head. 'Tis no surprise to him that Themis would be so dedicated. From what Erichthonios has seen, he seems much like the sort to be so.

As expected, from one of the Convocation. But even one of the Convocation needs rest, once in a while...

"Interesting... That's just like RPG magic..."

He realises he's said that aloud and quickly attempts to recover.

"Um! I mean, it sounds very flexible. You can do anything you want with it as long as you can visualise it, right?"

He tilts his head, a curios look flitting over his features at the terminology. But his new... acquaintance? Friend? Seems to be keen on moving on with the discussion.

"Nearly so, yes. There are things beyond our abilities, few though they are, and 'tis common for a person to be more adept in certain forms of magick over others. There is also the matter of becoming distracted during the visualization process, leading to... unexpected results."

It heartens him to hear that... and he simultaneously wonders if what he had told Azem had any influence in that. He had already -- not forgiven, exactly -- moved on, but just because they share the same (fragment of) soul did not mean they would always have the same reactions.

After all, Azem was much closer to all parties involved than he.

"That is good, no? How do you feel?" Surely 'tis a relief?

Azem sees that sheepish smile as he ducks his head and can't help but grin. Unable to help themself, they stretch a leg over and poke him with their toe.

"You're cute, you know that?"

He hesitates initially over completely disrobing in front of Azem. It's not that he's embarrassed over being nude, but the scar left on his front (visible even now, to be fair) will be completely revealed.

Eventually he sighs and settles in, telling himself that it's a question he is going to have to answer eventually. He sits partially hunched over in the bath anyway.

"Well, I lost, didn't I? Against Rhea'li and his determination over man's right to exist. Our people are gone forever... And I no longer have a say in the direction our star is taken."

[Sparkle lights up with delight when Azem adds their jellyfish--literally as well as metaphorically, pink sparks crackling off of her hair and mask. She laughs and claps her hands, kicking her feet gleefully, which may splash a little.]

Oh, you're playing too! I love it!

[It's so rare that someone is actually willing to play along with her.]

My pleasure, Azem!

[It doesn't miss her notice that Azem didn't say that was their name, only what they're known as--but she is more than happy to respect a stage name!]

Have you been here long? The city, I mean, not the bathhouse, but that too I suppose.

"Relieved, I suppose." Irritated that Elidibus was right. "I don't know what I would have done if they refused to speak to me again."

Sulk forever and ever, probably.

"How are you getting along with Azem?"

[ Lucy tips a shoulder in a shrug. ]

It's not like anybody here will know what it means. Unless there's someone here from your world. And even then, that's like one person. Not everybody.

[ She has to admit, she kind of doesn't get it. But then again, she's never been in a position of power, nor has she ever been ashamed of anything. So. ]

"Hmm, I see... In a sense, it's better for one of your people to specialise in a certain type of magic otherwise they may confuse themselves while visualising a spell."

He thinks about Gus' strict lessons on magic, how some mages became engrossed with high level, powerful spells, which left them wide open to enemy attack.

"...What's the funniest mistake you've seen?"

[ As Lucy is contemplating, Gilgamesh experiences a flicker of... something. It is not that he is able to read or deduce her exact thoughts; no, whatever else he may be, titles vast and glorious, he is not a mind reader. Not presently. But they have engaged in Synthesis together more than once, so perhaps that has created a connection of some sort, in that he feels unusually attuned to her mood, enough to sense that something is amiss, and he can even intuit a general idea of what the issue at hand is.

He glances downward and away. There is not much of a reply Gilgamesh can offer at such a moment, because even if it's a touch jaded, Lucy's assessment is not wrong. Nobility is Gilgamesh's by right of birth and role. But of course, there is another side to all this. His very uniqueness does mean that he is an absolutely individual existence, alone in all space and time. That is to say, absolute loneliness.

But this, too, is not something Gilgamesh allows himself to accept any sort of sympathy or comfort over. He is as he is. It is only that every coin has two sides, and there is also a price to the sort of Absoluteness which Gilgamesh so casually projects. ]

Of course, in my kingdom, there was no such thing as an extraneous individual. All lives contribute to the glory of the kingdom and the King.

[ Gilgamesh casts a glance around, though he looks almost disinterested in the surroundings. Really, he's contemplative, as ever. ]

So it seems in Magisteria, also.

[ And with that, he rises, locating a towel and wrapping it about his lower half as he strides away from this particular scene. There are no further words or any hint of any external reaction beyond that. ]

Head dipping, Erichthonios considers for a moment. "I've not personally seen mistakes I would consider to be funny... but there have been tales of oddities that have sprung up when using creation magicks. The flying fish, for example."

Lifting his head to meet the other fellow's gaze, Erichthonios gestures whilst explaining. "A magos, striving to create a fish, was suprised in the midst of channeling their magick. To their greater astonishment, the newly-created fish took flight into the skies."

...There are four people here who know me.

[ And all of them know what the symbol means. Huzzah. ]

What mark do you have?

[ Clearly a change in topic is called for. ]

It only felt right.

[ The crackle of pink sparkles is rather cute and Azem can't help but smile.

If she were to ask, Azem would explain their title though it is unlikely they'd given their true name. After all, who they once were is essentially dead once one becomes a member of the Convocation.

Azem hums thoughtfully as they sip their drink. ]

It's been a few turns of the moons now. [ A silly way to phrase it when they don't even have a moon back home (don't ask how that works). ]

Azem does their best not to stare at the scar.

They remain quiet for a few moments before finally speaking again. "I suppose that is true."

What can they say to that?

"I would like to think the star is in good hands." Their people weren't going to exist forever anyway, right? No matter how much they might have believed so, nothing can last forever.

He nearly yelps in surprise, his response coming almost a full octave higher as he straightens and looks at Azem with eyes wide.

"N-No?"

[ Whoops, that's more than Lucy had thought there would be. She's only ever met one person from her world here, and he's gone now. So, she guesses she understands why he's so hesitant to show it off if four people know what it means.

She holds up a hand, showing him her own mark -- a small purple diamond on the inside of her wrist.]

Got lucky with mine.

[ Thank fuck it's not the Arasaka logo or something. She would have chopped off her own arm. Lucy frowns, thoughtful. ]

Why did yours take the shape of something you're embarrassed by? It's just the manifestation of Bios, right? I didn't think it had a will and opinions.

His eyes widen. Then he bursts out laughing.

"Really? That's how the flying fish came about? Hahaha!"

In his old world, all creatures came about due to evolution and natural selection. In his current world, the spoken races all descended from the gods. And in Erichthonios' world, apparently his people simply...made creatures appear.

"So it actually flew? The flying fish I'm familiar with just skip over the water's surface as if they're flying. They don't actually take flight."

"You would think that."

It's just a particular trait of Azems, he supposes. Not that he's known more than two.

"...Well, it is out of my-- our hands now," he sighs, sinking slightly deeper into the water, up to his neck. "They will have to limp along with only half-complete souls. That will have to be enough. Has Rhea'li told you who he is yet?"

[ He pulls his knees up and ends up hunched over in the water. This man is most definitely sulking a little. ]

I told you that I'm not embarrassed by it. I don't know why it chose to take this shape. I thought, perhaps, this world wanted me to remember my duty, but I've no intention of following through here. Not when I've finally earnt my rest.

Careful, Musashi. Flattery will get you everywhere with a certain King/"Boss."

As Gilgamesh is currently naked, Musashi may also be able to catch a glimpse of the specific tattoo he wears as an imprint upon his person. Of course, it's a mark that all Otherworlders share, one shape or another. His is a shade of dark blue, a partially coiled serpentine tangle -- rather amusing that fate would choose that particular decoration, all told. Considering his... history with creatures of such a nature. But this is after all more of a reminder of the cosmic joke to which all life is subjected.

"Hm..."

A golden eyebrow quirks at Musashi's choice of slang. Gilgamesh does not make the full association immediately, perhaps, not really remembering every one of Lucy's idiosyncratic expressions, but the unfamiliar choice of word does ... ping some resonance in him.

He accepts the drink, taking a deep sip. Inwardly, he must commend the brew: it is indeed a beverage worthy of his treasury. Also, he is, as ever, hardly one to criticize or complain about nudity. Not whatsoever. It is a body's natural state, after all. One's true nature.

"You keep referencing what is apparently another summoning of me." Lucy had been correct in her assessment: Musashi was, after all, terrible at anonymity. "But I suppose it is not one I would dispute."

Given the paths he has chosen to pursue in this world, it aligns rather well to think he was some successful business owner in Musashi's era, even if the role, in context, might be rather beneath his stature.

His reaction gets a laugh out of Azem. They certainly love easy to mess with people, though, they'll try not to tease him too much since they promised.

"Well, consider me saying you're cute."

"I would like to see it." They sigh wistfully. To see what has become of their world, no matter how terrible Hades might think it is. A new adventure in a land that is both familiar and not. It's exciting to them.

Azem scooches closer to him as he sinks into the water.

"Aye, that he is a part of my soul. So much makes sense after learning that." They chuckle.

"I could show you," he blurts out. As soon as he does, he hunches his shoulders, glancing away. "I travelled the star in your stead," he mutters, "thinking I would share the sights I saw when you--"

He trails off. When Azem had been restored, he means to finish.
