Agrarian Enclave: The Oca Street Bathhouse

This mingle is OTA and can be used like a mini-TDM or meme!

This is another mingle set in Magisteria's Agrarian Enclave, or the Agriculture District. For maximum thirst, it can be combined with the first Enclave mingle, specifically the ambrosial honey. Visitors are welcome to play it as their characters exploring both, either individually or together!

Known throughout the district as a haven for relaxation and wellness, the Oca Street Bathhouse features luxurious hot springs, invigorating steam rooms, and therapeutic pools infused with herbal extracts, all housed in/among rooms with soft, ambient lighting. Visitors may select from among a wide number of "Aqua Aromatics" to produce different sensory experiences.

The Oca Street Bathhouse also offers an impressive number of massage options derived from Otherworlders' ancestral cultures. Whatever your desire, every aspect of the bathhouse is fully customizable for all patrons, lending to a wholesale self-care experience.

[Below are some ideas to get everyone started, though players are of course free to make up their own massage options, bathing rituals, and aromatics! A world like Magisteria would of course have options beyond those from Earth history, but I kept it simple here. Again, feel free to add more!]

Aqua Aromatics

Pleasures of all sorts may become quite real within the sensuous sensory-rich environs. Citizens of diverse backgrounds visit this place. Waterfolk of various kin, but also mundane normie humans, elves, faeries, and even some on the tech-forward side.

PCs are free to handwave interactions with amorous locals or with workers at the establishment, who are trained in full-service massage+pleasure work. Random one-off NPCs can be made for this purpose in the location, so go wild! ♥

Plot Key

At some point, Otherworlders might encounter a worker who looks a little uncertain. She’s conversing with elf guy (likely also a worker there).

Otherworlders may overhear the worker say that lately certain of their clientele had been behaving a bit strangely. Unfamiliar women arriving and … there was talk of induction into some group. Otherworlders will overhear her saying she did manage to collect digital business cards for certain individuals/the organization.

If Otherworlders listen closely, they’ll hear concern: these people were kind of giving off… culty vibes.

PCs are free to approach and ask about those business cards... Simply reply to "Plot Key" below.

[Note: This plot clue relates to an ongoing game plot in the works. It may be a little confusing to new players, but any are free to ask into the clue/pursue details.]

[ If Sparkle's nudity was a problem, Azem certainly isn't showing it. They're naked too as one should be when in a bath. It doesn't matter if said bath seems to be meant for a relaxing soak rather than actual bathing, but that's neither here nor there.

They tilt their head in their new companions condition, one glowing blue eye cracked open as they take her in. ]

I like your fish.

[ As for the drink. ] I would say both as we do not have anything quite like this back home.

It's all waterproof. Good thing, right? Otherwise everyone with mods wouldn't be able to swim or shower or whatever.

[ Lucy can hardly blame him for noticing; the detailing of the cyberware on her back is pretty extensive. It's more subtle on her front, mostly covered by her bathing suit except for the lines over her shoulder joints. The deepdive port in her skull, however, is completely covered by a patch of fake skin and hair at the back of her head.

Well, if he's allowed to look, then she'll admit she did too. ]

That's some interesting ink on your stomach.

"Hmph. Elidibus is. I believe that young man, Erichthonios, is of flesh and blood however."

Lucky them, he thinks enviously.

"There was a fight a short time ago. I sustained a minor injury then and bled Bios. That was what confirmed my suspicions."

He had of course healed himself immediately. No need to panic, Azem.

"Not to mention I recovered much faster when I drank water from the spirit grove. Their environment was suffused with Bios."

Erichthonios is of flesh and blood? Rhea'li frowns, a thought striking him. "Like Azem?"

Does that mean Erichthonios is unaware of the future that lay ahead of him...? The thought of needing to explain the Final Days and the Sundering to him doesn't sit well in his gut.

[Rhea'li hums. Azem isn't going to make it so easy, huh? He ought to have expected that.

A grin.]

Will I need to spar you again for it?

"What we call 'Words' refers to the language used by the gods when they created the world. The power and effectiveness they have is determined by their speaker. If you're interrupted mid-Word, the spell can backfire on the caster and kill them. If you don't keep an even temper while speaking, your spells might behave erratically, drain your magic, and kill you."

He raises a hand. By now, he's had a portion of magic restored to him so he can actually demonstrate.

"For example, if I say ignis..." A small flame appears above his hand. "That's the word for 'fire'. It captures everything about the concept of 'fire' and the caster can shape it into an offensive spell with focus."

Observing with rapt attention, Erichthonios hears and sees all that which occurs. A most intriguing adaptation.

"I see. So it is through your words that you manipulate the energies required to channel the spell into manifesting."

He pauses, contemplating.

"...we do not require the spoken word to channel our magick. 'Tis more through gesture that we accomplish such feats, drawing from our own energies. Our aether."

Oh, I like the sound of that. [ They can't help but grin. ]

Perhaps we can go a bit harder at it this time. [ Their grin only grows wider. ]

No panic, but they do worry about him. Sure, he's an excellent fighter and a far better mage than them, but they still feel bad that he got into a spot of trouble without them.

"I see." Their brow furrows a little as turn those facts over in their mind. "But you are otherwise living, yes?"

"Yes. Like Azem."

And unlike Azem, who is - was - a member of the Convocation, Erichthonios is essentially a civilian. A civilian who happens to be the son of Lahabrea, but even so...

"Are you going to tell him?"

"...I suppose that would depend on your definition of 'living'."

The irony doesn't escape him. He has scorned the mortal races for so long, telling himself that they're broken remnants of their former souls, but now he's a spirit given form. Much like he had been when Rhea'li summoned both him and Hythlodaeus at the end.

"Do you want to discuss this inside? I'd prefer not to loiter in the open."

He doesn't want another solicitation.

Rhea'li considers the question with a low hum, tail flicking behind him.

"I'll leave that decision to all of you." And in particular, Themis.

He pillows his head on his arms.

"I'll answer only if asked, as I did for Azem."

[ Impressive work to be able to waterproof even the joints, he thinks.

His arms move self-consciously to cover his abdomen, even though you can hardly see his mark through the rippling water. ]

I didn't have a say in it. It was there when I arrived.

"To be fair, it doesn't have to be spoken. It can be written instead."

William draws the Word 'ignis' in the air and glowing script appears where he traces. Another small burst of fire flashes before him.

"How do you control your magic if you only need gestures?" he asks, curious.

"The gestures aid us in guiding our aether, that we may weave it into spells, or into the act of creation."

He pauses, contemplating how to explain it so that it translates well into what the other understands.

"You may... think of it as bending our aether directly into the patterns that your Words would invoke. 'Tis something that comes naturally to our kind, though a few of us struggle more than others."

[ Well, whatever power or higher being made the choice about the appearance of that mark, it was definitely an interesting choice. Lucy's own mark that showed up when she arrived is just a small purple diamond on the inside of her wrist, something small and mundane enough she can pass it off as ink she got on her own. ]

Mm, you don't need to be embarrassed about it, choom. Looks pretty cool to me.

[ Ah, the rare Kind Lucy. ]

"I suppose so..." They continue to look thoughtful. He's like their creations in that way only he is a soul, isn't he? A soul given form.

It's strange to think about.

"Ah, yes. Let us go inside."

Rhea'li grins, remembering Azem's enthusiastic responses to one of his previous AI generated Cybercharm profiles.]

At sparring?

[Rhea'li gestures at the bathhouse's outdoors advertising of its most famous options, including public or private rooms for pleasure. He grins, wide.]

Or sparring?

"...I suppose that's fair."

A part of him still worries though, that perhaps the burden of knowledge will be too much for the boy. There's no danger of Terminus beasts spontaneously appearing here, but even so...

"At least Azem is speaking to me again," he mutters.

Hades initially leads the way inside the baths, although he lets Azem pick whatever treatment/bath they wish to experience. Hades himself isn't so fussy (he will gripe a little about the massages though).

Once they're settled, he returns to the topic from before.

"I've had a lot of time to think about what constitutes a living being," he says quietly, gazing at nothing in particular. "But ultimately, it does not matter what I believe. I no longer have the right to decide such a thing."

[Sparkle grins.]

[And as to that, it's hard to know what that means, not knowing where they're from, isn't it?]

I suppose I'll try it, then! I like new things and interesting things.

[ Azem opens their mouth to respond before closing it as they take in the options the bathhouse has to offer. ]

[ They respond after a moment, grinning at Rhea'li. ]

I think I have to agree with that.

[ Azem decides to add a fish of their own to Sparkle's. However, their fish is that of the jellyfish variety, a glowing blue creature that undulates its way through the air. ]

Excellent. [ They pour her a cup and pass it over while responding to her question. ]

I am known as Azem. 'Tis a pleasure to meet you Sparkle. [ They offer a bright smile. ]
