"To start with, you must divide your focus evenly between two things: the controller itself -- " Gilgamesh briefly glances down at the one he holds. "-- and that which it controls. For the first, the key is to become familiarized enough with what each movement to a switch or button does to the object which the device controls."

Gilgamesh demonstrates by tilting the joystick to the left or right, as the Bursterfly swerves accordingly.

"You should practice with this until you can, without looking at the controller, know by sheer muscle movement what a particular press of a button or tilting of a joystick will result in, what effect each movement will have on this insect. The focus of your hands should be entirely on the controller and the focus of your eyes entirely on the insect, almost as though each were an extension of your body."

Rhea'li's vision issues really were probably the biggest impediment here and why he was having so much trouble, truthfully.

But Gilgamesh begins the demonstration by pulling and lightly twisting on the controller while Rhea'li watches (giving him a chance to view both his hands and the Bursterfly), showing his technique as he maneuvers it under the crystalline structures, keeping carefully away from them.

"This one is an easier place to start. I recommend beginning here and mastering this before moving to the wind tunnel."

That one was admittedly far more challenging, as the wind was not visible, and if the person maneuvering the Bursterfly was further away, they might not see or feel it, so one had to be very aware. There were tricks to conquering that challenge too, but it was probably best to start with the simplicity of avoiding a solid, visible obstacle, such as the crystalline structures on the ceiling.
