The Great Woofaloomp Round-up Log

OOC Notes: What are these technicolor Furby things? One might say they are Soraya's comfort animals/anxiety-reduction companions. It doesn't do to have cosmic entities who are swole with Bios and very powerful but also very mentally distracted and anxious, possibly in part due to said Bios. The Woofaloomps are living Bios baubles who siphon off their mistress's/keeper's extra energy and promote general tranquility.

Catching them can have various effects:
🫧 induce feelings of tranquility
✨ magic buff/enhancement
🌀 PC makes up w/ev: they can be as variable as the Hexberries

At present: They are literally just straight up running all over the apartment complex grounds. They are fast and can "glitch" between spaces, which can make them more challenging to catch. And they can also imitate sounds/voices to throw people off track. And they will mess with Otherworlders for Shenanigans, to be assured.

Extra: Note that for additional shenanigans, one can combine this with the berry muffin quest.

The wish element is an optional aspect of this log. PCs do not have to make a wish to participate, but those who received gifts are expected to be GO-GETTERS, so be ready to pack... the Bentley and the wheelbarrow, get them ready to roll and drive these babies home --

[ *Being round chonks is the only trait they share, visually. Some have wings, some have large eyes, and some look like little bugs or bear-like creatures. If people want to come up with attributes for them or different sub-genres, mod gives you the blessing to go wild. And that includes helping me fill out other little word things re: any of the flora/fauna that should interest any of you. ]

There's a new face here, with no magic to speak of (yet) and still fumbling about getting used to different surroundings. He looks like who has walked straight out of a fantasy novel.

William is initially enamoured by the glittering technology around him. Seeing the Bursterfly above someone who looks just as out of place as him (and with a troubled expression as well), he decides to approach and introduce himself.

"Hello. My name is William. Do you need help with something?"

The newcomer is a complete stranger. Gilgamesh appraises him. William... was this a fellow Otherworlder? In this world, it was not always apparent who was a native and who was another of them, not unless one's tattoo was visible, and it rarely was. But Gilgamesh is thinking this stranger is another Otherworlder, mainly because he appears to have no idea what is going on here.

In which case, well, he has truly missed Quite a Lot. But perhaps they can get caught up here and now.

"I suppose you did not see the broadcast..."

Well, there is not time to try to pull up a recording of it, now. Gilgamesh settles for holding up the Link, showing a picture of a Woofaloomp, with the text caption thereof, and lifting his hand, jerking his thumb backwards... in the direction of where one had last scampered off to.

"... these creatures... are currently running rampant about these apartment complex grounds. Presuming you are also an Otherworlder, their mistress has entrusted their return to us."

Something something precious babies might be in danger just running around in the "wild" like this or some nonsense.

"Yet they are not the easiest to lay hold upon."

He leans in to appraise the image on the screen before glancing in the direction Gilgamesh indicates. They look cute enough, he thinks.

"Ah... Are they timid or agile? Has anyone tried luring them in?" he asks. "I can help if you like."

Capturing little creatures would be easier if he could use his Words, but alas. They'll have to do this the old fashioned way.

"I would not describe them as timid." Mischievous and eager, more like. "Insofar as I can discern their personalities, they seem to be more... eager pranksters. But agile? Yes, quite. I believe this is all a game to them."

And they, the Woofaloomps, were having quite a bit of fun with it. Well, Gilgamesh supposed this was what one might call "good exercise," perhaps. Though it was not exactly his preferred mode of adventuring.

"So far, the best proposal or idea I have encountered has been to lure with their chosen diet, but perhaps you may have other ideas?"

It was definitely a chance for William, as a newcomer, to flex his creativity.

"Agile pranksters..." he muses aloud. William casts his gaze towards one of the Woofaloomps, peeking out briefly to spy on the pair. It vanishes quickly once it notices him looking.

"Well, if they like playing tricks on people, we just need to appeal to that sense of humour!" William smiles brightly. "Wasn't there some kind of food that's been causing havoc lately?"
